Subsistence farmers who traded their crop for inputs for next season and a small amount of cash can suddenly sell directly to distributors further downstream for cash and to access credit to fund their next season.
A poor person with no cash can finance a motorbike and a mobile phone and become a courier or a moto-taxi driver.
A truck driver who relies on middlemen to get him loads (and who therefore gives up most of the possible margin) can now connect directly with shippers.
These new businesses will transform the lives of the excluded while making large profits for shrewd investors.
